Inchmurrin Island wedding castaways at Loch Lomond
Rose is from Scotland, near to Helensburgh and Loch Lomond in fact, and a few years ago she moved to Southampton – where she met this tall and extremely nice guy called Chris. They met, they fell in love and they decided to get married. They chose to have their wedding day on Inchmurrin Island, which is one of several small islands in the middle of Loch Lomond, and this is where Rose’s Mum got married, so it was in Rose’s heart that she should also get married on the Island.
To get to the island you have to get a boat. There is also a small Hotel on the Island, so that’s where we were going to spend our day. I caught the boat out to the island with the Registrar, who was starting to look a bit green by the end of the ten minute boat trip, and after taking some ‘before’ pictures with Chris, I started to loiter near the pier to await Rose’s arrival. Chris and his ‘best boy’ were also waiting for Rose and her sisters to arrive, and there was a big cheer when they did. Chris led Rose and the bridesmaid to the hotel for the ceremony, which started once Rose changed her cloggs for shoes.
The ceremony was just what they wanted – and a bit like Rose – small and sweet, and after the exchange of rings they had a hand-fasting to finish off the ceremony and then walked out of the room together as one. After saying thank you to all their family and friends, we went outside to shoot some groups. It was one of those days with a big blue sky, a low sun and it was terribly cold, so we got the groups done as fast as we could then all got back inside for some warmth and cheer. A little later I got Rose and Chris outside again for some more pictures and then it was time for the meal, with Chris starting off with an impromptu speech. He said he wasn’t going to say anything, but once he started…
The cake cutting was after the meal, and then it was time for me to leave on the boat. By the time we left it was completely dark, which was a strange experience being on a boat in the middle of Loch Lomond and its completely dark. It was a lovely day on Inchmurrin with Rose and Chris. A memorable day and a day made much warmer with Rose and Chris’s smiles. I wish you both love and happiness for your new start together.
