NATURAL & ELEGANT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Your wedding is unrepeatable, and this is why you need to choose a photographer who has the experience to capture your day.

Consult

Before I photograph a wedding, I will always talk to you a week or two beforehand, either on the phone or face to face so we can chat about the photography – and your day.

Shoot

On the day of your wedding I will just photograph everything as it happens and when it happens, quickly and quietly, and not get in the way of the day.

Deliver

I start editing your pictures within a few days of the wedding, and your individually edited pictures will be ready around two weeks after the wedding day.

Journey

Soon its going to be your wedding day, and it’s going to be one of the most exciting and romantic days of your life. It’s also the start of a new journey for two people who are madly in love and wherever and whatever your day is going to be, I would be thrilled to play a small part in your wedding journey in the best way I can – through my pictures.

Some photographers like to use long words and complicated words to describe what they do, I don’t – I just call it wedding photography.

Who do you choose?

Okay, you’ve decided to get married and now you’re wondering whether its worth the expense of a photographer. Well…. one of the few things you’ll have left after the wedding are your wedding pictures, which is why choosing your photographer is one of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make  – besides your partner, of course…

Your wedding is unrepeatable, which is why choosing the right photographer is such a big decision. So who do you choose as your photographer..? Do you choose a friend, a local part-timer or someone who’s just starting out – together with the disappointment or worry that this could bring – or do you choose a full time professional with a lifetime of experience to capture your day..? Only you can make that call, so choose wisely…

My Approach

I believe that a wedding is all about YOU and not about the photographer, so my approach is to not let the photography get in the way of the day – and I do this by standing back and capturing the day as it unfolds. I work quickly and quietly to let you to get on with enjoying the wedding, and me to get on with capturing those natural moments.

The only time I get directly involved with the wedding day is for the formal photography, with the groups taken in a traditional way and the couple’s portraits taken with a more natural and elegant approach. For the rest of the time I’m with you I just photograph things as and when they happen, which I’m sure you would agree is the best way to capture any kind of wedding.

My Style

I’ve been doing this long enough not get distracted by fads or fashion, so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer who makes you do cheesy poses or where the pictures look like they’ve been taken on a wet Wedensday in November  – then that’s not me. I like to keep the photography simple and as natural as possible because from my experience I know that what may look trendy today WILL look dated tomorrow.

I believe in clarity and colour so I individually edit each picture to look bright, natural and colourful – because I want your pictures to look as good in 20 years time as they do today. And because I know that most couples like their pictures in black & white, I always provide a complete set of monochrome pictures to compliment your wedding day memories.

Professional

I’ve been a professional photographer for over 30 years and have a lifetime of experience and I bring this experience with me to each and every wedding. I also know that every wedding is different and my experience gives me the ability to think on my feet, especially when things don’t go entirely to plan, so whether it’s the weather, the cars, the venue or one of the many other things that could get in the way of the day, I’m always ready for next picture.

And, being the nice guy that I am, I’ve also helped bride’s with their veil’s, groom’s with their tie’s, flower girls with their shoes and even got a wee bit misty eyed with a few of the Mum’s during some of the speeches – because that’s what wedding photographers do.

Some Questions & Answers

I’m sure you must have a zillion questions about my wedding photography, but there’s only so much space on a web page so I’ve listed the usual questions couples ask me. If you do have any more questions, however big or small, then just email, text or even give me a call.

HOW WILL OUR PICTURES LOOK AND HOW LONG TO SEE THEM..?

Because this is my full-time job, the day after your wedding I transfer all the pictures onto my system to make sure they’re safe and I generally start editing them a few days after your wedding. Once I’ve sorted the pictures I start editing the ‘keepers’ which usuall takes me a day or two. I always edit my pictures so they are clear and colourful. I don’t do ‘dark and dreary’ – but if that’s what you want, then there are lots of other photographers who do that kind of editing – but because I want your pictures to look just as good in 20 years time as they do today I dont dabble i the ‘dark and dreary’ stye of editing.

After the initial edit I put them aside and re-visit them a few days later just to double check my choices and my editing then once I am happy with the pictures I will make a HD slideshow and then get everything ready for delivery. I usually say it will take upto three weeks before I deliver them, but it could be as little as two weeks. It just depends on the time of the year and how may weddings I have open.

HOW WOULD YOU DESRIBE YOUR STYLE

First and foremost – I’m a realist, and unlike some photographers, I don’t use long words to describe what I do as being art. Its not. Its wedding photography so I photograph things in my own way, capturing moments as and when they happen. The only time I get involved with the day is when its time for the family groups and the couple’s portraits – and for the portraits I always photograph in a style which is simple, elegant, quick and without a lot of fussing or faffing about. Just look at the pictures on my website, and you’ll see what I do.

DO WE HAVE TO SMILE..?

Did you know that it takes 26 muscles to smile and 62 to frown…? Its up to you whether you want to smile, but seeing that it takes less effort to smile, then why not – after all – its your wedding day…!

WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER..?

I concentrate mainly around the central belt of Scotland, including Loch Lomond, Glasgow and Argyll area, but I also photoraph weddings in Ayrshire and in the Highlands. I’m more than happy to go further, but this will cost extra…

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER...?

I’ve been a full time photographer for over 30 years and during that time I’ve worked in all kinds of photography, and at one time I even even managed photographers and taught photography. I am still a full-time and self-employed photographer and while most wedding occur at weekends, I still have to fill my days so I also shoot commercial photography. This keeps my busy, as well as helping to keep a roof over my head and keeping the tax-man happy.

ARE YOU INSURED..?

Definitely. I never leave home without it.

DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS...?

Yes. My albums are made right here in Scotland and are of the highest quality. As well as superior materials, I also design each and every album around your day so that  no two albums are the same.

DO WE HAVE TO BUY AN ALBUM..?

No, because I always offer alternatives. You can choose a straight USB package or you can can choose to include, prints, a storybook or an album with your portfolio, or if you want to include something weeks, months or years after your wedding, then I have a special shopping cart on my website where you can buy prints, storybooks or albums.
